St. John's Hospital Springfield Illinois issued the following announcement on Feb. 16.

As part of an ongoing effort to offer its patients the most cutting-edge medical imaging technology available, HSHS St. John’s Hospital acquired the Biograph Vision, the next-generation PET/CT scanner from Siemens Healthineers.

“Siemens Healthineers is proud to provide HSHS St. John’s Hospital with its state-of-the-art Biograph Vision,” said David Pacitti, President of Siemens Healthineers North America. “Siemens is committed to offering innovative systems that will better enable St. John’s to deliver the highest levels of efficient and effective care to patients in Springfield, Illinois.”

Biograph Vision leverages premium PET/CT technology to help physicians at St. John’s to detect disease and better understand disease progression for accurate and early treatment decisions, all with short scan times and a wide bore for enhanced patient comfort.

“We are thrilled to offer the Biograph Vision to our community,” said Joanne VanLeer, director of radiology at HSHS St. John’s Hospital. “The Biograph Vision enables our facility to identify the smallest of lesions early as a result of the high resolution and image quality, which supports an accurate diagnosis and more personalized treatment options to our patients. By incorporating premium PET/CT into our practice, we can improve patient outcomes, reduce procedure costs, and help avoid ineffective therapies for our patients.”

The scanner is available to patients for screening with a physician’s orders.
