ST. JOHN'S HOSPITAL SPRINGFIELD ILLINOIS: Peyton Skrysak named Local Champion Child for Children’s Miracle Network

Childdoctor

St. John's Hospital Springfield Illinois issued the following announcement on Apr. 6.

HSHS St. John’s Children’s Hospital is proud to announce Peyton Skrysak is the local Champion Child for Children’s Miracle Network.  Every year, the 170 Children's Miracle Network Hospitals across the U.S. and Canada identify a “champion” in their local communities to serve as the face for children treated at their children’s hospital. These ambassadors spend their year advocating for the charitable needs of children’s hospitals.

Peyton, born at 22 weeks, was in the fight of her life at the beginning of her life. She is the sole survivor of preemie triplets and overcame incredible odds.

“We spent nearly four months in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) with Peyton, and our son spent his entire two months of life there. The NICU will always hold such a special place in our hearts,” said Peyton’s mom, WICS News Channel 20 anchor and reporter Stacey Skrysak. “Peyton would not be here today if it wasn’t for the talented team of doctors and nurses and a hospital willing to give our triplets a chance of life when they were born at the edge of viability. The NICU is a place where miracles happen, and we saw it first hand with our daughter Peyton.”

This summer Peyton will celebrate her 8th birthday! Thank you for making miracles happen for kids like Peyton.
