Village of Divernon Board of Trustees Met July 28.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The regular meeting of the Village of Divernon Board of Trustees was held at the Village Hall. Mayor Pro Tem Larry Baer called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. After the Pledge of Allegiance was recited by those in attendance, Clerk Gail Hedges called roll: Craig Busch “Here”, Joe Bukantos “Here”, Chuck Apgar “Here”, and Dianne Brenning “Here”. Mayor Copelin and Bramley were absent. Also absent were Chief Martin and Superintendent Rhodes.

A motion was made by Apgar seconded by Bukantos to approve the corrected minutes of July 14, 2021. The motion passed 4-0. Brenning made a motion to approve the July 14, 2021, Executive Meeting minutes and Apgar seconded. The motion passed 4-0.

Brenning made a motion to donate $75.00 to the American Legion for their golf outing. Bukantos seconded and the motion passed 4-0. Brenning made a motion to approve the bills seconded by Bukantos. The motion passed 4-0.

Public Works:

No report.

Police:

No report.

Committee Reports: Economic Dev., Zoning, TIF, Building Permits:

Busch reported he had been contacted by Ryan McCrady, Springfield Sangamon Growth Alliance, regarding the Nextsite agreement. The City of Springfield has signed on to the agreement, and the SSGA board has approved. Springfield’s signing should have a positive effect on the agreement.

Public Utilities Water, Gas and Sewer

Bukantos made a motion seconded by Busch to approve the request by Billie Dent to waive the late fee due to not having received a bill. The motion passed 4-0.

Finance, Personnel, GIS:

Baer reported that employee health insurance is being reviewed in light of Blue Cross Blue Shield not yet signed with Springfield Clinic. All new signature cards have been signed and submitted to the banks.

Public Safety, Health and Safety:

Apgar reported that the Weapons and Firearms Restrictions Ordinance is being reviewed to ensure it aligns with state law. An update will be reported at a later date following attorney review. There’s been no movement on the IGA building although the Village continues to push forward. The property has become overgrown with weeds.

Public Works, Streets, Alleys and Sidewalks:

No report

Village Communication/Building, Grounds and Lights, Parks, Recreation:

A discussion took place on the computer operating system used by the Village. The Village email was recently compromised. The Village is working with Comcast on the issue.

New Business:

Discussion of a volunteer award took place. A motion was made by Brenning seconded by Bukantos to approve the purchase of the 2021 IML Handbook for board members. The motion passed 4-0.

Busch made a motion to adjourn at 7:37 p.m.
