Village of Divernon Board of Trustees met Aug. 25.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The regular meeting of the Village of Divernon Board of Trustees was held at the Village Hall. Mayor Jim Copelin called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. After the Pledge of Allegiance was recited by those in attendance, Clerk Gail Hedges called roll: Craig Busch “Here”, Joe Bukantos “Here”, Chuck Apgar “Here”, Larry Baer “Here”, and Dianne Brenning “Here”. Tyler Bramley was absent. Also present were Chief Martin and Superintendent Rhodes.

A motion was made by Bukantos seconded by Busch to approve the minutes of August 11, 2021. The motion passed 5-0.

Baer made a motion to approve the bills seconded by Brenning. The motion passed 5-0. 

Visitors

Paul Palazzolo and Erin Tozer of the Circuit Clerk’s office were present to discuss the benefits and cost of the digiTicket eCitation system. digiTicket improves efficiency by scanning the driver’s license reducing/eliminating errors and increases safety of officers and persons stopped by reducing the time on the side of the road. There are no out of pocket costs to the Village unless ordinance violations are added.

Amy Patton was present to present the annual Village audit. The audit identified no major issues. Ms. Patton stated that the Village has a good segregation of duties with many checks and balances. Bukantos asked if monies from the Gas Fund can be used for any purpose. Ms. Patton indicated that funds transferred into the General Fund from the Gas Fund could be spent for any purpose as long as the funds were appropriated.

Supervisor Reports:

Public Works:

Superintendent Rhodes reported that two bids were received for replacement of the lawn mower. Rhodes recommended the lower bid for a Kubota from Sievers in Auburn be purchased in the amount of $14,888.00. Busch made a motion seconded by Brenning to purchase the Kubota in the amount of $14,888.00. The motion passed 5-0. Rhodes also reported that the line locator needs to be replaced at a cost of $2039.95. Busch made a motion to approve seconded by Apgar. The motion passed 5-0.

Public Utilities Water, Gas and Sewer

Discussion of the audit was held until next meeting.

The meeting ended with a motion to adjourn by Apgar at 7:14 p.m.
