State Rep. Tim Butler (R-Butler) congratulated the Rochester Rockets soccer coach Chad Kutscher on Monday for the team's 300th win.
"Congrats @RocketsCUSD3a soccer coach @kutsch09 on your 300th win last week. Thanks for letting me crash your class this morning to present an Illinois House certificate honoring the big milestone! Go Rockets," Butler said in a tweet on Monday.
In other actions, Butler has spoken out about a lack of transparency in the state's redistricting process, according to the Sangamon Sun.
“I don’t see anyone here that isn’t from the media and looking at witness slips, we don’t have any,” Butler said during the Oct. 14 House Redistricting Committee hearing in Springfield, according to the Sangamon Sun. “Though, Chairman Aquino said they were looking at sub-circuits for counties with 150,000 or above, the two hearings we have today are counties that have 150,000 or above — Sangamon and Peoria. Is it the intention of the majority to not only draw new sub-circuit maps for the circuits that have sub-circuits or is the majority also looking at counties that don’t have sub-circuits yet?”
Back in May of this year Butler gave praise to those who serve in the military in honor of Memorial Day, according to the Sangamon Sun.
"One of the things I am always amazed about on Memorial Day – the day that we honor those who've given the sacrifice with their lives to defend this nation – is that we continue to have Americans step forward to serve," said Butler, according to the Sangamon Sun.
Rochester High School wasn't the only school to see praise from Butler. In May, Butler congratulated Eastern Illinois University on the school's 126th anniversary, according to the Sangamon Sun.
“On behalf of all the EIU graduates, Happy 126th birthday to Eastern Illinois University and Northern Illinois University,” Butler said in a video posted to YouTube, according to the Sangamon Sun. “126 years ago, the enabling acts for both of these fine institutions were enacted. EIU has a great history in our state of education. It started as a teachers' college. We’ve educated generations of teachers that have gone out and taught generations of Illinoisans, ever since we were founded in 1895.”
