Village of New Berlin Board of Trustees met Jan. 19.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The Village President determined that an in-person meeting was not practical or prudent and that the attendance at the regular meeting location is not feasible based upon the concerns identified in the Gubernatorial Disaster Proclamation related to COVID-19. Therefore, the meeting was held via alternative arrangements pursuant to 5 İLCS 120/7, specifically Zoom web Conference and teleconference.

President Mike Krall called the meeting of the New Berlin Village Board to order at 6:01 P.M. Wednesday January 19, 2022. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited and roll call was taken and each trustees ability to hear and be heard was confirmed.

Attendees: President Mike Krall, Trustee Stephen Knox, Trustee Cindy Morris, Trustee Kris Neuman, Trustee Sue Spalding, Trustee Andy Surratt, Treasurer Angela Libben, Clerk Melissa Dees, Attorney Jason Brokaw, Police Chief Terry Nydegger. Trustee Stephanie Snyder joined late.

Audience: Cameron Jones, Greta Myers, Frank Kulavic, Brandon Keafer, and Eric Shangraw.

Consideration of the Consent Agenda:

Motion: To approve the consent agenda as presented for board meeting minutes from December 15, 2021, special meeting minutes from December 22, 2021 Treasurer's report, bills and building permit report.

Seconded by: Trustee Spalding

Motion carried by a roll call vote.

Clerk: No Report.

Police: Chief of Police Terry Nydegger presented his December 2021 report to the board members. Chief Nydegger informed the board that he had extra patrol to assist at the school and to assist with traffic at the drive thru nativity scene during the month. Chief Nydegger also reported that the department assisted the EMS and Fire departments during the month. The board members discussed with the Chief about some safety concerns they have with a house on Dieudonne Drive. Chief Nydegger gave the board members the update on the new hire, he said that he will be swearing in James Poppenhouse soon.

Audience: Frank Kulavic and Brandon Keafer presented Senergy to the board members and how Senergy can help the Village. The board members and Senergy members will meet at a later date at the Village Hall to discuss bids on conferencing and security for the Village. Eric Shangraw from GFL Environmental introduced himself to the board members and would like to work with the Village of New Berlin for possible village wide garbage contract someday. He will be in touch with the board members with a list of references and to follow up.

Committee Reports

Utilities: Written report submitted. Cameron Jones from Benton and Associates reported that he will be meeting with contractors and should have an update at the next meeting

Motion: To Approve SRF Reimbursement Request #14 for the WWTP in the amount of $77,561.38.

Zoning: No report.

Streets and Parks: Trustee Snyder reported to the board members that they opened bids for the splash-pad project. Trustee Snyder emphasized to the board members that they had set the budget for this project all pre-Covid and now all the bids are coming in higher than what was budgeted. Trustee Snyder told the board members the process to review all the grant rules and then will be able to see where cuts from the projected plans can be made. Cameron Jones from Benton and Associates reported to the board that they are working with the contractors to find out where cuts can be made as well.

Finance: No Report.

Health and Safety: Trustee Morris reported that there are items stacked in the street on corner of Yates and Benton and that might be a possible safety concern.

Personnel: No report. Trustee Morris and Trustee Surratt would like to have a committee meeting to discuss the upcoming business position that will be available at the village.

Motion: To approve Ordinance 2022-01 Pertaining to Animal Control.
