AUDITIONS FOR 'IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE: A LIVE RADIO PLAY' OCT. 11-12

Olney Central College Theater will hold auditions for the fall production of “It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play” at 7 p.m. on Oct. 11-12 in the Dr. John D. Stull Performing Arts Center.

This beloved American holiday classic comes to captivating life as a live 1940s radio broadcast. With the help of an ensemble that brings a few dozen characters to the stage, the story of idealistic George Bailey unfolds as he considers ending his life one fateful Christmas Eve.

What is a live radio play? The actors you see on stage are “radio actors” who portray the characters in the story. They stand in front of microphones and present different characters by changing their voices, facial expressions and costumes into new personas. There are also actors playing Foley artists who create live sound effects right before your eyes.

There is a minimum of five roles with the potential to expand for more roles. Cast members may play multiple characters. Auditions are open to anyone in high school or older, and people from surrounding communities are also welcomed to audition. No experience is required. Visit www.iecc.edu/occ/theater for audition materials, FAQs and audition tips.

Performances are Dec. 16-18. For more information about OCC theater visit https://www.iecc.edu/occ/theater or the OCC Theater Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/OCCTheater.
