Village of Pawnee Board of Trustees met July 24

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Call to Order: 

• President Clarke called the meeting to order to 7:00pm.

Roll Call:

• Village Clerk, Devona Martin called roll

• Trustees in attendance: Dale Walters, Troy Grant, Patrick Murphy, David Skinner, Brian Whitlow 

• Trustees Absent: Phillip Thompson

• Also in attendance: Treasurer Brent Wise, Candy Kramer with the Pawnee Post, Chief Barclay Harris, Steve Haney, Sangamon County Auditor Andy Goleman, Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon

Visitor's Recognition/Comments:

• Sangamon County Auditor Andy Goleman appeared before the Board. He introduced himself and his role as auditor. He has been the County Auditor a little over 8 years. 

• Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon appeared before the Board. He introduced himself and his role as coroner. He talked about their new facility as well as the opioid crisis.

Clerk's Report: 

• Minutes of July 10, 2022 were presented for review and approval

Motion made by Trustee Whitson to approve the minutes of July 10, 2023 as presented Second made by Trustee Skinner

Roll Call Vote Taken: Walters-yes, Grant-yes, Murphy-yes, Skinner-yes, Whitlow-yes Motion Carried: (5-0)

Personnel & Finance Committee Report: Committee Chair, Trustee Skinner

• Trustee Skinner presented the bills payable for the week ending July 24, 2023 in the amount of $173,628.42

Motion made by Trustee Skinner to approve the bills payable for the week ending July 24, 2023 in the amount of $173,628.42.

• Treasurer Brent Wise presented the Monthly Budget Comparison Report for the Month Ending June 30, 2023

• Treasurer Brent Wise advised the Lions Club would like to have their Country Fair on September 16,2023 on the square. Consensus was to allow.

Gas and Water Committee Report: Committee Chair, Trustee Whitlow 

• Trustee Whitlow advised there were 66 red letters sent out.

• Trustee Whitlow advised the guys have been making repairs around Petersburg and CTI. Petersburg should have 4th Street completed by the end of this week. CTI should have everything completed on the North side of the highway by the next board meeting. He further advised we have received the new locator and the odorizer has been ordered. There is a gas meeting is Josh McElroy and Ryan Stoltz will attend.

Streets, Alley and Sidewalk Committee Report: Committee Chair, Trustee Grant

• Trustee Patching roads, cleaning curbs and locating lines for CTI.

Police Committee Report: Committee Chair, Trustee Skinner

• None

Sewers and Parks: Committee Chair, Trustee Thompson 

• Steve Haney advised the cracks on the North Park walking path have been patched and resealed. They have trimmed 2 trees and 1 tree was taken down. He also advised they received the last of the parts needed for the Santara lift station upgrade.

Zoning Committee Report: Committee Chair, Trustee Murphy 

• Trustee Murphy advised it was brought to his attention the Pit Stop on 4th Street is not zoned correctly. He will contact Attorney Cravens for an ordinance to have it changed from B1 to B2. It is currently up for sale.

Bargaining Committee: Committee Chair, President Clarke

• No Report

Energy: Committee Chair, President Clarke

• No Report

Infrastructure: Committee Chair, President Clarke

• No Report

Meeting adjourned at 7:21pm on Monday, July 24, 2023. The next scheduled meeting of the Pawnee Village Board of Trustees is Monday, August 14, 2023 at 7:00pm at the Village Hall.
