National Skilled Trades Day was recognized on May 1, 2024, to raise awareness about the value of skilled trades and honor the hardworking individuals in these professions. In a statement, it was expressed, "Thank you to all the skilled trades workers!"

Highlighting the importance of skilled trades jobs, particularly in Central Illinois, state and community leaders emphasized the need to support this career avenue for current and future workers. The Capital Area Career Center (CACC) was specifically acknowledged as an exceptional trades school in the 95th District, offering various fields of study.

One significant aspect of promoting skilled trades careers is through youth apprenticeships. These programs provide high school students in Illinois with multiple career pathway opportunities. It was noted that students enrolled in these programs have the flexibility to either enter the workforce upon graduation or pursue higher education.

As skilled trades careers continue to grow, the emphasis on education and career opportunities, such as apprenticeships and specialized programs like those offered at CACC, plays a crucial role in preparing the workforce for the future.
