Illinois celebrates state vegetable on Sweet Corn Appreciation Day

Today marks Illinois Sweet Corn Appreciation Day, celebrating the state's official vegetable, sweet corn. Residents are encouraged to enjoy locally grown sweet corn while it is in season.

Frito-Lay, one of the largest snack food manufacturers in the United States, relies heavily on Illinois farmers for their products. The company produces well-known brands such as Lay’s, Fritos, Doritos, Cheetos, and Tostitos.
