The professional licensure system has been a significant issue for professionals who need a license to work in Illinois. On Monday, August 12, the following applications for professional licensure will be available online from IDFPR for the first time. Professionals can create an account to complete and submit their application.

Applicants are encouraged to utilize the IDFPR checklist when completing an application for their professional license.

State Representative Mike Coffey understands the frustration of professionals seeking work in Illinois and filed House Bill 5007 to help individuals receive a professional license. This bill would create a task force that would help manage reports submitted to the General Assembly for review.

"We have incredible people seeking professional careers in Illinois, but waiting months to obtain their license to work is depriving them from earning a paycheck," said Coffey. "The result of poor policy is driving workers to other states and creates a barrier for economic growth. I filed legislation in support of our professional workers in Illinois."

The task force is responsible for submitting a report to the General Assembly and Governor. The Task Force shall submit a report after every two quarterly meetings, with the report including:

- Licensing delays

- Licensing costs

- Continuing education mandates

- Timelines for the department to issue licenses

- The number of applicants for each license

- The number of renewal applicants

- Other topics determined necessary by the Task Force
