Illinois College men’s soccer opens season with dominant win over Earlham

The Illinois College men's soccer team began the 2024 season with a commanding victory, defeating Earlham 7-1 on Friday in Richmond, Indiana.

The Blueboys took control early, scoring six goals in the first half. Nate Kapitz netted the season's first goal at the 33:06 mark. Aidan Gowin added another goal just over a minute later. Kapitz scored again at the 35:43 mark for IC's third goal.

Oscar Liogon Arenas converted a penalty kick at the 39:15 mark. J'aiden Cranwell-Meneses scored at the 42:16 mark before Liogon Arenas found the net for the second time of the night to conclude first-half scoring at 44:33.

IC's only goal of the second half came from Tyler Lunning, assisted by Tyler Schiltz.

Owen Macias played in goal during the first half and recorded one save. TJ Esseily had three saves in the second half.

The Blueboys will remain in Indiana to face Anderson tomorrow at 3:00 p.m.
