Illinois College men's soccer team draws with Greenville in non-conference match

The Illinois College men's soccer team secured a 2-2 draw against Greenville in a non-conference match on Tuesday at England Stadium, Jacksonville, Illinois. The result brings Illinois College's record to 5-3-1 for the season, while Greenville now stands at 2-4-2.

The game saw all its goals scored in the final 22 minutes. Greenville took an early lead with a goal at the 10:41 mark of the first half, maintaining that advantage until halftime.

Jacob Pelletier from Cumming, Georgia, equalized for Illinois College at the 67:46 mark with an assist from Daniel Garcia. The teams remained tied until Greenville appeared to clinch the match with a goal at the 85:55 mark. However, Pelletier responded just over a minute later with a bicycle kick goal assisted by Toby Ybarra.

Illinois College out-shot Greenville 11-7. Pelletier, Jives Efemini, Tyler Lunning, and Aidan Gowin each had three shots for Illinois College. Goalkeeper Daniel Happach made two saves during the match.

"This was the final non-conference home match of the 2024 season for IC," noted an official statement from Illinois College. "The Blueboys will travel to Elmhurst next week to end the non-conference portion of the season."

Next up for Illinois College is their opening game of the Midwest Conference season against Ripon on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
