The "Makers on the Move" Bus Tour commenced its third annual journey today, coinciding with Manufacturing Month. The tour is a joint effort by the Illinois Manufacturers’ Association (IMA) and the Illinois Manufacturing Excellence Center (IMEC), aimed at promoting manufacturing jobs across Illinois. The 2024 tour will visit various manufacturing facilities, colleges, and high schools to spotlight the innovative sector and available job opportunities.

State Representative Mike Coffey expressed his support for this initiative. He acknowledged Ace Sign Company and individuals Maxwell Lehman and Layne Rude from Capital Area Career Center for their contributions in realizing the bus project.

Rep. Coffey also announced his own "Mike on Main Street" business tours in Springfield, IL. These tours are designed to connect with businesses in the 95th District directly. Coffey's goal is to understand better the needs of these businesses and workers to enhance Illinois' business climate.

“Creating economic growth has always been one of my priorities, and I will continue the hard work to ensure businesses and workers are receiving the tools and resources they need to be prosperous,” stated Rep. Coffey. He emphasized that Illinois must implement policies that foster thriving business environments.

Scheduled visits include prominent district businesses like Brandt, Selvaggio Steel, and O’Shea Builders. Coffey described "Mike on Main Street" as more than just tours but an action-oriented approach toward boosting Illinois' economy through legislative policy-making based on real business needs.

“As a business owner, I know there are many areas for improvement, and I look forward to working together with other businesses that strive for a better future in Illinois," he added. His objective is to expand opportunities for both businesses and workers, contributing to economic growth and improved living standards for families.

These tours will begin next month and extend into next year. Rep. Coffey's office welcomes suggestions for potential tour stops where legislative discussions could be beneficial.
