Milhiser leads Illinois College women’s golf team at IWU Spring Tournament

The Illinois College women's golf team recently participated in the 2024 Kathy Niepagen Spring Fling tournament at Ironwood Golf Course, hosted by Illinois Wesleyan University. The two-day event saw the Lady Blues achieve a 16th place finish with a total score of 685, consisting of an initial round score of 343 and a subsequent round score of 342.

Katie Mae Milhiser led the team with impressive performances over both days. On the first day, she recorded a score of 80, featuring nine bogeys, eight pars, and one birdie on hole one. Hannah Harpster followed with a 12-over par score of 84, including nine pars and six bogeys. Alyvia Burr returned to her hometown to open with a 15-over par score of 87. Emily Guest rounded out the team's first-day efforts with a score of 92.

On the second day, Milhiser improved her performance by shooting a six-over par score of 78. Her consistent play included eight pars and two birdies across both rounds, resulting in a tournament total of 158 and tying for 28th overall. Harpster completed her final round with an additional score of 89, finishing in 77th place overall. Burr matched her previous day's performance with another round of 87, tying for 78th place overall. Guest improved by five strokes on the second day to record an overall tournament score of 180.

The Lady Blues will next compete at Millikin University's Take Back the Night Tournament starting April 19 at South Side Country Club in Decatur.
