Illinois College swim teams compete at Monmouth Invitational

The Illinois College (IC) swim teams recently participated in the Monmouth College Invitational held in Monmouth, Illinois. Alongside Grinnell College and host Monmouth College, IC was one of three teams competing in the event.

In the men's 200-yard medley relay, the team composed of Nathen Trachta, Cooper Meyer, first-year Eli Eberle, and first-year Tristan Pottebaum secured a fifth-place finish with a time of 1:46.00. The women's relay team featuring Jenna Kenning, first-year Julia Edwards, first-year Emma Dunsworth, and Jena Sellers finished sixth with a time of 2:05.94.

IC had strong participation in the women's 200-yard freestyle with Cassie Reeve, Abigail Glaser, Delaney Goodard, and Madelynn DePover all recording times under 2:30.

Eli Eberle led IC in the men's 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.29. He was followed by teammates Meyer and Pottebaum with times of 24.30 and 25.40 respectively. Steven Doss and Matthew Billenstein also competed in this event.

In the women's 50-yard freestyle, Jena Sellers finished sixth with a time of 27.54, followed by Lauren Sinclair at 29.94.

Nathen Trachta took fourth place in the men's 100-yard butterfly with a time of 56.53 seconds, narrowly missing first place by .27 seconds. For the women's team, Emma Dunsworth finished third at 1:09.02.

James Hammond placed third for IC in the men's 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:41.70 while Abigail Glaser achieved third place for the women at 5:59.24.

Trachta also competed in the men's 100-yard backstroke finishing fourth at 56.90 seconds while Jenna Kenning represented IC on the women's side recording a time of 1:06.93.

The IC swim teams are scheduled to travel next to Beloit College for a two-day meet starting on December 1st in Beloit, Wisconsin.
