The Midwest Conference (MWC) has released its preseason poll for women's cross country, placing Illinois College's Lady Blues in eighth position for the 2023 season. Ripon College, the reigning MWC Champion, is favored to win again this year with a total of 62 points.

Illinois College's team includes returning athletes Claire Peters and Kairy Mercado-Ramos, along with three new first-year members. In the previous MWC Championship, Peters secured the 51st spot with a time of 28:13.02 in the 6K run, while Mercado-Ramos finished in 64th place at 29:21.04.

This season marks Anthony Flores' debut as head coach for the Lady Blues. The team's first competition will be at the H.W. Wright Classic hosted by Millikin University on September 1 at 5:30 p.m. in Decatur, Illinois.

The full results of the preseason poll are as follows:

1. Ripon College (6) - 62 points

2. Grinnell College (2) - 56 points

3. Lawrence University - 50 points

4. Cornell College (1) - 46 points

5. Monmouth College - 27 points

6. Beloit College - 26 points

7. Lake Forest College - 24 points

8. Illinois College - 22 points

9. Knox College - 11 points
