Illinois College golf teams excel at McNaughton Memorial tournament

The Illinois College men's golf team hosted the 2024 McNaughton Memorial tournament at the Country Club golf course in Jacksonville, Illinois. The Blueboys entered three teams among seven competitors and achieved notable success, securing first and second places while their third team finished fourth.

The winning team recorded a score of 291. Senior Peter Hauser led the Blueboys with an even-par round of 72, earning him the overall individualist honor. "Hauser started his round on hole three and went two-over par on the first nine holes that included a birdie on hole six," according to reports. He completed his final nine holes with a two-under par score.

Senior Dane Huber followed closely behind Hauser. Starting on hole three, Huber recorded a birdie and ended with an even-par back nine. "For the round, Huber tallied 11 pars and three birdies," contributing significantly to his team's success.

Junior Jarrett James from Chester, Illinois also tied for second place with a one-over par score of 73. His performance included two birdies on holes two and seven during his front nine. Cole Bartels matched this score, adding another strong showing for the team.

Caden Tinsley rounded out the top performers for IC's "A" team with a three-over par 75, finishing seventh overall.

The second IC team secured their position as runners-up with scores from Tobin Nell and Samuel Frericks leading at five-over par each. Ashton Sutton followed closely with a six-over par finish.

The third group featured Isaac Anderson leading with a six-over 78. Devin Brown scored nine-over 81, Dylan Clark ten-over 82, and Emmitt Brokaw eleven-over 83.

The Blueboys will next compete in the 2024 Blueboy Invite from April 11-12 at Rail Golf Course in Springfield, Illinois.
