State Senator Sally Turner: 'It’s exciting to see such investments in education!!'

State Senator Sally Turner recently visited Lincoln Land Community College (LLCC) to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly remodeled student services facilities in Menard Hall. In an October 9 Facebook post, she said, "I had the honor of attending the LLCC ribbon cutting ceremony to open the newly remodeled student services facilities in Menard Hall."

"I had the honor of attending the LLCC ribbon cutting ceremony to open the newly remodeled student services facilities in Menard Hall," said Turner, according to Facebook. "It's exciting to see such investments in education!!"

According to her Facebook post, Turner shared information from LLCC about the event. The post highlighted that "the newly remodeled facilities for student services at LLCC is a blueprint for success!" and noted that officials had cut the ribbon to open the redesigned space.

LLCC President Charlotte Warren expressed enthusiasm about the new facilities, stating, "We are incredibly excited about the redesigned space and centralization of the services available to students. It is a welcoming, student-first model that we are proud to offer."

In a news release shared by LLCC, it was detailed that students can access various services and offices at the Student Services Hub. Gordon Gates, Chair of the LLCC Board of Trustees, commented on the renovation process: "The renovation of this area began in January 2023, funded in part by the State of Illinois. Today, we are proud to showcase the new facilities...that will unify student services and enhance how we meet students’ needs."

The Student Services Hub also includes spaces for collaboration, relaxation, studying, and workshops. Adjacent areas provide accessibility services and support for programs such as TRIO and initiatives like Pipeline for the Advancement of Healthcare Workforce and Workforce Equity Initiative.

Turner has served as a senator for Illinois' 44th Senate District since 2021. Her background includes a degree in legal studies from the University of Illinois and experience as a juvenile probation officer and paralegal in Logan County's State’s Attorney’s Office. She was elected Logan County Clerk in 1994 and served through five consecutive re-elections.
