Illinois College dance team wins first place at regional competition

The Illinois College dance team achieved notable success at the 2023-2024 Des Moines Regional Competition held last Saturday in Des Moines, Iowa. The team, known as the Lady Blues, participated in two categories: Poms and Jazz.

In the Poms category, the Lady Blues emerged victorious with a final score of 80.73, securing first place. Competing against Kirkwood Community College and Southwestern Community College, the team's performance was choreographed by Head Coach Samantha Laster and Assistant Coach Sydney Geyston. Team members included Emma Boyd, Sabrina Crabtree, Rylee Dodd, Olivia Moore, Olivia Treffinger, and Avery Westlake.

The Jazz category saw the Lady Blues finish in second place with an overall score of 78.87. Their competitors included Graceland University College, Kirkwood Community College, and Southwestern Community College. The jazz routine was choreographed by IC Alumni Anna Bezler.

Looking ahead, the dance team is set to prepare for the upcoming College Classic Virtual Championships scheduled for March 6, 2024.
