Illinois College falls to Lake Forest after early lead

Lake Forest College's men's soccer team overcame a two-goal deficit to defeat Illinois College 4-2 in a Midwest Conference match held at England Stadium on Saturday evening. This loss ended an eight-game unbeaten streak for the Blueboys, who now hold an overall record of 11-4-1 and a conference record of 5-1-0. Lake Forest improved their standing to 6-7-3 overall and 5-0-1 in the conference.

The match began with Illinois College taking an early lead. Tyler Schiltz scored the first goal at the 4:17 mark, assisted by Tyler Lunning. Shortly after, Jason Hernandez extended the lead to 2-0 at 6:45. However, these were the only goals for Illinois College during the game.

Lake Forest responded with Nathan Kostovestsky scoring twice, first at 19:56 and then again at 27:11, leveling the score. Peter Cirbo gave Lake Forest the lead with a goal at 34:02 and later secured their victory with another goal at 71:16.

Throughout the match, Lake Forest out-shot Illinois College with ten attempts compared to six from Illinois College. Tyler Schiltz led his team with four shots while Owen Macias made five saves as goalkeeper for Illinois College.

Looking ahead, Illinois College will travel to Cornell for their final regular-season road game on Tuesday in another Midwest Conference matchup scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
