Josh Harris scored 30 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead Illinois College (IC) to a comeback victory over Concordia of Wisconsin, with a final score of 81-79. The game took place in the opening round of the Bill Merris Invitational at Sherman Gymnasium in Jacksonville, Illinois.

This win improved IC's record to 3-0 for the season, while it marked the season opener for Concordia. Concordia initially controlled the game, establishing a 34-20 lead within the first 15 minutes and maintaining a 37-28 advantage at halftime.

The Blueboys started closing the gap in the second half, narrowing Concordia's lead to just two points at one stage. Despite falling behind again by seven points with just over eight minutes remaining, IC managed to regain momentum. Austin Robinson's free throws gave IC its first lead at 69-68 with less than five minutes left on the clock. Javonte McKenzie's layup broke a tie and ensured that IC stayed ahead until the end.

In addition to Harris's performance, Buzz Ritzel contributed 14 points and Jaylen Swinney added another 12. Robinson ended with ten points and five rebounds, while Seth Doss also collected five rebounds.

IC has been on an impressive run recently, winning 35 out of their last 40 games and holding a strong record in non-conference regular-season games.

Next up for IC is a championship match against Nebraska Wesleyan scheduled for tomorrow afternoon as part of the Bill Merris Invitational. Meanwhile, Franklin will compete against Concordia Wisconsin in a consolation game earlier that day.
