The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) has launched the initial phase of a plan aimed at modernizing professional licensing in the state. This development comes as part of efforts to address longstanding issues faced by professionals who require licenses to work in Illinois.

State Representative Mike Coffey expressed optimism about the improvements, stating, “We have incredible people seeking professional careers in Illinois, but waiting months to obtain their license to work is depriving them from earning a paycheck. I’m glad to see IDFPR take the initiative to improve an outdated system that will help professionals get into the workforce quickly. Improving the professional licensure system in Illinois will benefit workers and our economy.”

Representative Coffey emphasized his commitment to supporting constituents in the 95th District with their licensing needs. He plans to collaborate with IDFPR to facilitate the application process for those requiring assistance.

Individuals needing help with applications submitted to IDFPR or those new to the process are encouraged to contact Rep. Coffey’s office for support through a dedicated form.
