The Illinois College MVEC Overwatch team faced a challenging start to their spring season, losing 4-1 against Gustavus Adolphus on Wednesday night in Jacksonville, Illinois. Noah Horsman was a standout performer for Illinois College, achieving 52 eliminations and a KDA of 2.89, while dealing over 57,000 damage throughout the match.
Illinois College struggled in the initial three games on Antarctic Peninsula, Colosseo, and Route 66, with a combined score of 8-3 in favor of Gustavus Adolphus. However, the team managed to secure a victory in game four at Throne of Anubis with a score of 5-4. Meryn Davis, Dwight Duijneveld, and Noah Horsman collaborated effectively to clinch this win during a last-second fight.
The final game took place on the Hybrid map Hollywood where Illinois College was defeated with a scoreline of 3-1.
The individual performance statistics revealed Dwight Duijneveld achieved an elimination count of 43 with a KDA of 1.86 and dealt damage totaling over 47,000. Lucas Schultz contributed with 25 eliminations and dealt nearly 35,000 damage. Meryn Davis focused on healing duties while Theo Biela also provided support through healing efforts.
Looking ahead, the Overwatch team will compete against Central College on Wednesday, January 22nd at 7:00 pm.
