The Illinois College Men's Track and Field team achieved significant success on the first day of the Midwest Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Huff Athletic Center in Monmouth, Illinois. The event saw them secure two conference titles.
Sophomore Dylan Doss claimed an individual title by winning the long jump with a leap measuring 7.22 meters. Doss then collaborated with classmate Adam Hernandez, along with freshmen Blake Larson and Sam Stimler, to win the 4x200 meter relay in a time of 1:28.67, setting a new school record.
Additional contributions came from Hernandez, who finished third in the high jump with a clearance of 1.80 meters. Junior Deon Rogers placed fifth in the shot put, achieving a mark of 14.14 meters.
The sprint medley relay team, comprising Doss and freshmen Ki'on Carson, Drew Cushman, and Bacon, secured fifth place with a time of 3:47.34.
In preliminary rounds, Hernandez and sophomore Nathan Barth advanced to the finals in the 60-meter hurdles, with Hernandez posting the best time of 8.49 seconds. Stimler also moved forward to compete in the finals of the 60-meter dash.
Currently, Illinois College stands fifth in team standings with 33.5 points, while Ripon leads with 60 points.
The Midwest Conference Indoor Championships will conclude on Saturday starting at 10:30 a.m.
