Illinois College head coach Jacob Waddle achieved a significant milestone by securing his 100th career win as the Blueboys triumphed over Concordia College (Minn.) with a score of 5-3 in the first game of their doubleheader. The Blueboys split the series, bringing their season record to 6-4, while Concordia stands at 5-5.
In the opening game, Illinois College clinched a victory through a strong performance in the third inning. Tyler Barker's two-run double and Jon Tate's RBI single gave IC an early lead. They extended their advantage in the fifth inning with Ryne Mapes contributing a run on a sacrifice fly and Tate scoring on a wild pitch. Pitchers Jack McGuire and Connor Akstulewicz played pivotal roles by limiting Concordia to three runs, which secured head coach Jacob Waddle's landmark victory.
The second game saw Concordia College dominate from the start, scoring eight runs in the first inning and eventually winning with a commanding score of 23-2. Concordia amassed 23 runs on 17 hits to ensure they split the doubleheader. For Illinois College, Nathan Walker managed two hits and scored one run, while Keegan Busby also contributed by scoring another run.
Jacob Waddle has now become only the third coach in Illinois College baseball history to achieve 100 wins. Looking ahead, the Blueboys will return to Illinois to host Eureka College for a non-conference doubleheader at Joe Brooks Baseball Field on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m.
