Illinois College falls short against Augustana despite strong offensive performance

Illinois College faced a challenging game against Augustana, resulting in a 15-12 loss on Friday. Despite a strong offensive showing with 13 hits and three home runs, the Blueboys struggled on the mound.

The defeat leaves Illinois College with an 8-5 record for the season, while Augustana improves to 5-4.

Illinois College quickly took an early lead by scoring six runs within the first three innings. Connor Hennemann was a standout performer at the plate, achieving four hits out of five attempts, including a home run and three RBIs. Adam Passmore contributed with a homer, a double, and two RBIs. Nolan Decker also hit a home run during his one-for-three performance with an RBI.

In the ninth inning, Illinois College's offense continued to push forward, adding three more runs in an effort to rally. Louie Bartletti made significant contributions by driving in three runs with a double. Logan Fleener also had a notable game with two hits out of four attempts and scored twice.

However, Illinois College faced difficulties on the mound, dealing with 11 walks and five hit batters. Jack McGuire started the game pitching for three innings as the bullpen worked hard to keep the game competitive despite facing challenges.

Looking ahead, Illinois College aims to recover in their upcoming doubleheader at Augustana tomorrow morning against Buena Vista University at 10:30 am.
