Louie Bartletti has been recognized as the Midwest Conference Baseball Positional Performer of the Week, according to an announcement made by the league. This is Bartletti's first time receiving this accolade and marks the second occasion this season that a player from Illinois College has secured the weekly award.
Bartletti, a senior hailing from Springfield, Illinois, demonstrated exceptional performance at bat during the week. He achieved a batting average of .545 by hitting 12-for-22 with four doubles and two home runs, including a grand slam against Buena Vista. Throughout Illinois College's five games, he contributed 13 RBIs and scored eight times.
In a doubleheader against Eureka, Bartletti excelled by going 3-for-4 with four RBIs and three runs in game one. He maintained his form in game two with another 3-for-4 performance, adding two RBIs and three runs. His impressive week concluded with a 4-for-5 outing that included two runs scored and two doubles in Illinois College's win over Dominican on Saturday.
The Blueboys are set to begin conference play this weekend as they host Monmouth College at Joe Brooks Field for a doubleheader starting at noon.
