State Representative Charlie Meier served as the emcee for the Nashville Chamber of Commerce's annual 'Citizens of the Year' banquet. This event recognizes local citizens who make significant contributions to their community. This year, Melanie and Mike Caplinger were honored as Citizens of the Year by the Chamber. The siblings have been acknowledged for their efforts in supporting the community through their business, the Nashville Dairy Queen.

“I brought Melanie and Mike a pie from the farm and figured it was fitting given all the times they’ve satisfied my sweet tooth,” joked Meier. “Their family operates the Dairy Queen in Nashville and have been outstanding members of our community for multiple generations. Their parents opened the DQ in the ‘70’s and the sibling duo took over in 2006. Congratulations to Melanie and Mike Caplinger!”

The Caplingers' involvement with the Nashville Dairy Queen dates back to when their parents established it in the 1970s. Melanie and Mike assumed control of the business in 2006, continuing their family's legacy of community engagement.
