State Representative Mike Coffey has criticized Democrats for their initiative to expand Sangamon County Township. The proposed legislation, SB634, aims to increase the number of government workers in the Capital Township of Sangamon County. This proposal faces opposition from township officials.

Rep. Coffey expressed concerns that this expansion would result in a tax increase and argued that it would unnecessarily transform a position that currently requires one person into a role requiring three individuals.

"SB634 would expand government workers in the Capital Township of Sangamon County, despite opposition from township officials," said Rep. Coffey. He added, "It will be another tax increase and would turn a one-man job into three."

The debate over this bill continues as both sides present their arguments regarding its potential impact on the community and local governance.
