State Representative Mike Coffey (R-Springfield) expressed concerns following the signing of Illinois' $55.2 billion budget by Governor Pritzker. Coffey criticized the budget's growth and its implications for taxpayers.

"Illinois’ budget has grown by over $2 billion since I took office two short years ago, and taxpayers have had no relief whatsoever from the Democratic supermajority," Coffey stated. He argued that the budget prioritizes spending on political interests and funding for illegal immigrants rather than providing relief to Illinois citizens. "Families are being taxed out of the State of Illinois and this budget prioritizes Democrat pork, pay raises for politicians, and funding for illegal immigrants over relief for Illinois citizens," he added.

Coffey emphasized the impact on residents' financial well-being: "This isn’t monopoly money: this is people’s livelihoods. Life just got a whole lot more expensive for Illinois families, thanks to Illinois Democrats."

For further details, constituents can reach Rep. Coffey’s office at 217-782-0053 or [email protected].

Representative Mike Coffey represents Illinois’ 95th House District, which includes parts of Sangamon County such as Springfield and the Villages of Chatham and Rochester, as well as areas in Macon and Christian Counties.
