Today, Illinois State Representative Charlie Meier expressed his approval of the federal government's decision to cut off Planned Parenthood from federal funding through the "One Big Beautiful Bill." Meier highlighted that taxpayer money should not support organizations that offer abortion services.

"Thank you to President Trump and the Republicans in Congress who bravely stood for life and defunded Planned Parenthood. This is a critical step to protect life and the unborn," Meier stated.

Meier urged Illinois to take similar actions at the state level. "I am a strong fighter for the unborn. That is why I have voted against every radical bill by JB Pritzker to promote abortion in Illinois. He has made Illinois one of the most radical states for abortions, but I have fought it at every turn. Illinois should follow suit and end taxpayer funding for abortions," he said.

He proposed reallocating state funds currently used for abortion towards supporting young women seeking to avoid pregnancy and mothers needing care for unplanned pregnancies, including prenatal healthcare, improved pregnancy centers, adoption support, parenting programs, and other solutions valuing both mother and child.

"Thankfully, Congress has moved in the right direction. Now it’s time for every state, including Illinois, to join the movement away from government-funded abortion," Meier concluded.

Charlie Meier remains a dedicated advocate for pro-life values and fiscal responsibility, pushing legislation that ensures government funds are directed towards mothers, students, and working families rather than abortion providers.
