The Illinois College women's tennis team achieved its first Midwest Conference win of the season by defeating Monmouth 5-2 on Wednesday at the Bellatti Tennis Center in Jacksonville, Illinois.

With this result, the Lady Blues improved their overall record to 7-5 and now stand at 1-1 in conference play. Monmouth remains winless for the season with a record of 0-7 overall and 0-2 in conference action.

The Lady Blues secured the doubles point after Sophie Muir and Lily Ingram won at No. 2 doubles, while Sophi Barrow and Sabrina Ingram clinched a tie-breaker victory at No. 3 doubles.

In singles competition, Illinois College claimed four out of six matches. Clara Bach (No. 2), Sophie Muir (No. 3), Lily Ingram (No. 4), and Morgan Keefe (No. 5) each earned straight-set wins to help secure the team victory. Both of IC's losses in singles were decided by tie-breakers.

Looking ahead, Illinois College is scheduled to host Concordia of Chicago on Saturday at the Bellatti Tennis Complex for a non-conference match starting at 1:00 p.m.
