Illinois's Ball-Chatham Community Unit School District Board of Education held a closed session recently in order to discuss the appointment of a new director of athletics.
Former athletic director Dan Rourke has retired from the position, and Dusty Burk has been recommended to fill this role. He has previously served as an assistant principal at Pontiac Township High School. Burk has experience in athletics and administration activities within education.
The employment agreement indicates that the position would begin on July 1 of this year and would terminate on June 30, 2017 for a salary of $85,000 per year should the position be renewed.
Burk holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Illinois State University.
The finalization of an agreement that would approve Charlotte Montgomery as the interim chief financial officer for the district was also up for consideration.
This meeting also facilitated the submission of two retirement letters from Becky Hays and Theresa Serena. With these, both individuals are placed on the six percent retirement pipeline. Both would retire following the end of the 2019 -2020 school year.
Following this special session, a regular meeting of the board of education was held.
Ball-Chatham Community Schools is located at 201 West Mulberry St., Chatham, Illinois.
