The Ethics Committee of Springfield, Illinois will be holding a meeting on Wednesday, March 16, that will consist of a closed session.
The agenda states that the executive session is in relation to city government personnel matters. Illinois state law indicates that meetings of governmental bodies may be held in private when the subject matter is sensitive. This can include pending litigation, the purchase of real estate and matters associated with employment and staff.
Within the realm of employment matters, an executive session can include the appointment of new individuals, hiring decisions, disciplinary action against an employee or the termination of staff members.
Prior to the closed session, the commission will discuss pending matters related to the Inspector General. Following the closed session, members of the public may address the committee by request.
The minutes from the committee’s previous meeting, that took place on Jan. 12, will be considered by the committee and voted on for approval.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. at Springfield City Hall in the City Council Chambers. Springfield Mayor James Langfelder and all aldermen are expected to be in attendance.
