Pleasant Plains education board to consider purchases, renewals

Meeting

The Pleasant Plains, Illinois Community Unit District #8 Board of Education will be meeting tonight at 6:30 to discuss purchases and other items.

During this meeting the board will be considering a purchase of textbooks for mathematics courses from McGraw Hill and will also be voting to approve a bid for workers’ compensation and property insurance. The board will also be considering the renewal of the district’s membership with the Illinois High School Association (IHSA).

There is also an agreement with the School Administrators’ Publishing Company (SAPCO) to be considered by the board.

This meeting will consist of an executive session that will not be open to the public because the board will be deliberating on items of a sensitive nature. This can include matters relating to employment, appointments or discipline of employees; security procedures; negotiations associated with collective bargaining or matters relating to student discipline. This session may also consider any potential pending litigation.

The agenda notes that this executive session will likely result in motions that include staff resignations, reemployment for administrative staff and the consideration of faculty members currently on a non-tenure track to be granted tenure.

This meeting will be taking place at the Middle School Commons located on Farmingdale Road in Pleasant Plains.
