The Public Library of Springfield, Illinois' Lincoln Library Board of Trustees will be meeting today at 4:45 p.m. to discuss National Library Week and other items.
This discussion item is listed under the director’s report section. National Library week will be taking place between April 10 and 16.
The celebration is sponsored and was initiated by the American Library Association (ALA) and it supports the recognition of what libraries and the people who work at libraries offer to the community. It is a nationally celebrated week.
According to the ALA, there are events planned nationwide that include the National Library Workers’ Day, on April 12, and National Bookmobile Day on April 13. On April 11, there will be a state of libraries report released that includes the books that received the most challenges over the course of 2015.
Today's meeting will also include discussions relating to the library’s budget for 2017 and an orientation for new members to the board. Discussions will also cover a book sale that is set to take place in June.
The board will also consider meeting minutes from the previous session that took place in February.
This meeting is scheduled to take place in the Bicentennial Room of the library located at 326 S. 7th St., Springfield.
