Illinois' Prairie Skies Public Library District Board discussed rates for non-residents of the library district during a recent meeting.
Rates for non-residents of the library district has been set at $120 for families and $30 for individuals. Library Director Kathleen Roegge reported that research indicated that there should not be a difference in price for non-resident families or individuals and that both rates should be set at $120.
She also noted that patrons would need to obtain library cards from their closest library location and it should not be dependant on price.
There were also discussions regarding the utilization of Better World Books in order to remove books that are currently being housed at the Ashland library location. The company would sell the books.
This meeting also presented a facility wish list for the board to consider as a part of the development process for a three-year plan for the library system. The Per Capita Grant was also discussed during this meeting. If a state budget was not passed, the grant had the possibility of being paid in part, at 77 cents for each dollar awarded.
