Ameren Illinois launches program for financial relief amid rising energy costs

Energy costs have risen for residents and businesses in Illinois due to a spike in electric capacity prices. This increase has resulted in electric bills rising by approximately 18% to 22% compared to last year. Some customers are experiencing even greater increases on their monthly bills.

In response, Ameren Illinois has introduced a new program aimed at providing financial relief to income-qualified customers. The Supplemental Arrearage Reduction Program (SARP) is a $10 million initiative offering up to $1,000 per year for each service connection (gas and electric) to help eligible customers reduce their outstanding energy bills. Customers who qualify for LIHEAP can apply for the program through their customer account dashboard.
