The Springfield Office of Public Works will begin spring leaf-pickup service starting on Monday and lasting through the rest of the month.
For bags to be picked up, they should be placed in brown paper bags or plastic containers that hold no more than 30 gallons and weigh no more than 50 pounds. Leaves should be left curbside or at the end of the home's driveway by 7 a.m. on Mondays through the end of the month.
Leaves in metal cans, boxes or plastic bags will not be picked up. Do not tape the bags shut.
Leaves should not be swept into the street, which is against city code and could result in a fine. Yard waste may also be dropped off at the Evans Recycling Facility, 2100 J. David Jones Parkway,
between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays. Leaf drop-offs are free in April.
