Sangamon Historic Commission considers church's landmark application

The Sangamon County Historic Preservation Commission discussed an initial report on Buffalo Hart Presbyterian Church's application for landmark status at its meeting this week.

The Sangamon County Historic Preservation Commission's mission is to identify, protect, preserve and facilitate the restoration, maintenance and continued use of buildings, structures, objects, areas, sites and landscapes that are of historical, archaeological, architectural or scenic significance. The commission aims to foster education and pride in the area's history, promote economic development, conserve the value of historical property and the property tax base, nurture prudent development, and encourage cooperation between municipalities and Sangamon County.
