The Springfield Committee of the Whole will consider a proposed ordinance that would make it easier for the city to demolish vacant buildings, at its next meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Below is the agenda for this meeting, as provided by the committee.

Springfield has a council-manager form of government, with 10 wards, each with one elected alderman. The aldermen make up the City Council, along with the mayor, city clerk and city treasurer. Because the aldermen positions are part-time, the city has a full-time council coordinator who helps facilitate communications among constituents, aldermen and the city.
