Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) records show that 62.0 percent of Lanphier High School's (LHS) 2015 graduating class enrolled in college within 12 months of graduation.
The 2015 state average for students in public schools was 70 percent.
For LHS, its college enrollment rate marks an improvement over 2014, when 54.0 percent of its graduates chose post-secondary education.
The data, collected by the National Student Clearinghouse, includes two- and four-year colleges.
Enrollment at LHS in 2015 was 1,274; 213 (16.72 percent) were seniors.
ISBE said 21.1 percent of LHS seniors were "college ready" in 2015, vs. an average of 46 percent statewide.
All students who score a 21 on the ACT qualify as "college ready."
LHS students did better on reading (22.8 percent) and English (37.1 percent) and worse on math (17.2) and science (18.1).
Only 9.5 percent of LHS students were college ready in all four subjects, ISBE said.
