New Berlin Board discusses nonprofit energy programs

The village of New Berlin Board met Dec. 16 to discuss nonprofit energy programs.

VILLAGE OF NEW BERLIN BOARD MEETING MINUTES Wednesday, December 16, 2016

President Stephen Frank called the meeting of the New Berlin Village Board to order at 7 p.m. on Dec. 16, 2016 at the Village Hall. The Pledge of Allegiance was said and roll call was taken.

Attendees: Mayor Steve Frank, Trustee Joel Sander, Trustee Mike Krall, Trustee Sharon LaFauce, Trustee Diane Payne, Trustee Stephanie Snyder, Trustee Curt Stephens, Chief Nydegger, Treasurer Shanda Byer, Clerk Debbie Lakamp, Supt. Tim Bliss, Supt. Garrett Kemp, Attorney John Myers, and Reporter Linda Hughes.

Audience: Chelsea Sartore, Officer & Mrs. Greg Cooper, Tina Williamson and Alena Reeves Elevate Energy.

MOTION: To approve Consent Agenda.

Motion carried on a roll call vote.

Audience: Tina Williamson from Elevate Energy discussed the nonprofits three programs to help save energy.

Supt. Tim Bliss was recognized for 13 years of service to the village and presented a token of appreciation upon his retirement effective Dec. 31, 2016.

Police: A written report detailing hours worked, activities and fines brought in was submitted. Upon his retirement, Officer Greg Cooper was recognized for 17 years of service to the New Berlin community.

TIF: School was reimbursed $54,952.

Utilities: A written report by the superintendent was submitted.

MOTION: To accept estimated cost for sewer extension from Birch Street up to Waverly Road not to exceed $30,500 from TIF.

MOTION: To accept the quote from Prairie State Plumbing & Heating from Athens for not to exceed $2,400.

New water meters are operating well. The interconnect with Curran-Gardner water will not flow until 2017.

Zoning: No report

STREETS & PARKS: A written report was submitted.

MOTION: To approve T& K Tree Service to take out 10 trees and 12 stumps not to exceed $1,400 because they are tearing up streets.

Letter will be sent to the Windrow residents letting them know about the trees being taken down.

Committee will review costs of park benches and picnic tables.

FINANCE: No Report

HEALTH & SAFETY: Report on various properties and clean-up efforts. Agreement to sell foreclosed lien on 402 E. Illinois property.

PERSONNEL: Committee met and is acting on hiring recommendation.

NEW BUSINESS: MOTION: To approve Ordinance 16-13 adopting a travel and reimbursement policy.

MOTION: To approve the 2017 meeting schedule which is the third Wednesday every month except for June when the meeting will be June 21 to avoid a conflict with the county fair.
