Divernon ranked 612th in state in lottery ticket sales

The village of Divernon had the 612th highest lottery ticket net sales statewide per capita for the month of May 2016 -- down 198 spots from its April ranking.

The per capita lottery ticket sales in Divernon was $13.92 per person.

Based on monthly sales records obtained by the Sangamon Sun, Divernon generated $16,089.50 in net sales from its one lottery retailer in May 2016, compared to $22,322.50 in May 2015.


The village of Divernon is in Sangamon County, and has a population of 1,156, according to 2010 census data.

Average sales for municipalities in the region in May 2016 was $25,269.96.

Divernon's top lottery retailer is Circle K #1398 located at 329 IL-104, Divernon, IL 62530.

Circle K #1398 generated 100 percent of Divernon's May 2016 lottery ticket sales and 1 percent of Sangamon County's sales that month, which was $3,057,666.

A close look at sales by city shows that the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita in Sangamon County in 2015 were Williamsville, Springfield, Pleasant Plains, Illiopolis and Mechanicsburg.

Statewide, the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita were Forest View, Burnt Prairie, McCook, Mapleton and Merrionette Park.

The top five cities in the state generated $5,496,719 in net sales -- 1 percent of the state's 2015 net sales amounting to $2,793,271,709.50.
