Riverton ranked 685th in state in lottery ticket sales

The village of Riverton had the 685th highest lottery ticket net sales statewide per capita for the month of July 2016 -- down 9 spots from its June ranking.

Based on monthly sales records obtained by the Sangamon Sun, Riverton generated $42,155 in net sales from its one lottery retailer in July 2016, compared to $36,188 in July 2015.

Statewide, the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita were Forest View, Burnt Prairie, McCook, Mapleton and Merrionette Park.

The top five cities in the state generated $5,496,719 in net sales -- 1 percent of the state's 2015 net sales amounting to $2,793,271,709.50.
