Gubernatorial candidate Chris Kennedy needs to replace his reticence with resolve, the lllinois Republican Party cautioned recently, offering an online video clip of Kennedy ignoring a reporter's question on his wealth.
"You don't have Pritzker's money," the reporter says. "How much money do you have?"
Kennedy doesn't respond except to say he doesn't have the same wealth as the billionaire J.B. Pritzker, who is also a Democratic candidate for governor.
Kennedy, heir to the fortune of Robert F. Kennedy as well as claimant to one of the most powerful names in party history, did issue warnings about Pritzker’s possible motives in a recent Chicago Sun-Times article.
“He doesn’t need your money," Kennedy told the Sun-Times. "He doesn’t need your advice. He doesn’t need your help. He doesn’t need to listen."
It was Kennedy, however, who made a $250,1000 contribution to his own campaign, according to the Sun-Times. That donation removed the campaign contribution limits for all gubernatorial campaigns for the 2018 election.
The Illinois GOP has also posted a video in which Kennedy acknowledges having met with House Speaker Mike Madigan.
