The 19th century is coming back to life at Lincoln's New Salem State Historic Site.
The site will host a Fall Festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 28-29, with events and activities planned to reflect the past, according to a press release.
Live music and games from the era are planned, along with activities such as blacksmithing, candle dipping, quilting, wool spinning, weaving, natural dyeing and soap making. Demonstrations with black powder will also be offered.

The Lincoln New Salem website says basket-making demonstrations will also be done, and attendees will have the opportunity to observe food-preserving methods of the time by going into the tavern cellar.
Workers will dress in clothing from the time as well.
The OMGosh! Snack Shack will sell concessions, and the visitor center, New Salem Tradition Exhibit and Museum Store and Railsplitter Gift Shop also will be open.
Donations of $4 per adult, $2 per child and $10 per family are recommended for admission.
The historic site is located at 15588 History Lane, 2 miles south of Petersburg. For those coming from Springfield, the site is 20 miles northwest on Route 97.
