Riverton Village Board of Trustees met October 2.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

The President and the Board of Trustees of the Village of Riverton held their regular board meeting on October 2nd, 2017 at the Riverton Village Hall, Riverton, IL.

The board meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. Those answering roll call: Mayor Tom Rader. Trustees: Russ Patrick, Dave Charles, Chris Collins, Joe Bartley, Jim Mileham, and Michelle Landess. Also in attendance were: Chief Lawley, Superintendent Lyons, Office Manager Stacy Patterson, Attorney John Myers, and Treasurer Lashonda Fitch.

The Bond Issue Notification Act Public Hearing was opened by Mayor Rader at 7:01.

I would like to call the public hearing to order and open for the presentation and receipt of public comment. This is a public hearing being held pursuant to the Bond Issue Notification Act by the Village of Riverton Board of Trustees for the purpose of receiving written and verbal comments on the Village’s proposal to issue general obligation bonds. Notice of this hearing was published in the Riverton Register and posted at the principal office of the Board. The bonds proposed to be issued are the Village’s General Obligation Bonds (Alternative Revenue Source) in a principal amount not to exceed $2,200,000 for the purpose of financing the costs of refunding prior bonds of the Village and of designing, acquiring, constructing and installing improvements to the Village’s water and sewer system. Does anyone present wish to provide oral or written testimony with regard to the proposed issuance of the bonds?

There were no written or verbal comments.

If there are no further comments or testimony, may I please have a motion and second to adjourn this public hearing?

Trustee Bartley made a motion to close the public hearing at 7:05. Trustee Mileham seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Collins, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.

The pledge of allegiance was recited.

Trustee Bartley made a motion to approve September 18th meeting minutes and pay the bills. It was seconded by Trustee Mileham. Trustees Charles, Patrick, Collins, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.

Kip Trader, pastor at the Riverton 1st Baptist church, came forward to state that they would like to get more involved with the community.

Old Business:

No old business on the agenda.

New Business:

Ordinance #17-027 Ordinance Approving Changes to Chapter 70 and 74 of Riverton Village Code of Ordinances was tabled until the next meeting.

Superintendent Lyons presented the board with his report. (See attached report).

Chief Lawley presented the board with his report. (See attached report). He added that that there will be a neighborhood watch meeting 10/3 at 7 at the Village Hall. On 10/28, there will be cookies with a cop from 12-2.

Office Manager Patterson had nothing to report.

Treasurer Fitch stated that they are working to complete the audit.

Trustee Landess, chairman of the Administration Committee, stated that the newly painted hallway looks great. Also, the Leave Your Legacy Workshop is on 10/14 from 10-1:30 at the Buffalo Community Center in Buffalo.

Trustee Mileham, chairman of the Public Safety Committee, had nothing to report.

Trustee Patrick, chairman of the Public Utility Committee, had nothing to report.

Trustee Charles, chairman of the Parks Committee, stated that the concrete has been poured at the F.O.D. and the striping will begin soon.

Trustee Collins, chairman of the Public Works Committee, had nothing to report.

Trustee Bartley, chairman of the Economic Development Committee, stated that the homecoming parade is on Wednesday night at 5:45. The firehouse open house is also Wednesday night from 6:30-8:30.

Mayor Rader had nothing to report.

Trustee Bartley made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:17. Trustee Patrick seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Collins, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.
