Riverton Village Board of Trustees will meet Oct. 16.

The President and the Board of Trustees of the Village of Riverton held their regular board meeting on October 16th, 2017 at the Riverton Village Hall, Riverton, IL.
The board meeting was called to order at 7:01 p.m. Those answering roll call: Mayor Tom Rader. Trustees: Russ Patrick, Dave Charles, Chris Collins, Joe Bartley, Jim Mileham, and Michelle Landess. Also in attendance were: Chief Lawley, Superintendent Lyons, Office Manager Stacy Patterson, Attorney John Myers, and Treasurer Lashonda Fitch.
The pledge of allegiance was recited.
Trustee Bartley made a motion to approve October 2nd meeting minutes and pay the bills. It was seconded by Trustee Mileham. Trustees Charles, Patrick, Collins, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.
Old Business:
Kevin Kuhn stated that the letter is ready to be sent out to Riviera residents and that the plans are about 80% done.
New Business:
Trustee Mileham made a motion to approve Ordinance #17-027 Ordinance Approving Changes to Chapter 70 and 74 of Riverton Village Code of Ordinances. Trustee Bartley seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Collins, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.
Trustee Mileham made a motion to approve Ordinance #17-028 Ordinance Authorizing Impoundment of Motor Vehicles and Establishing Procedures for Release of Vehicles and Payment of Administrative Fees. Trustee Collins seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Collins, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess.
Ordinance #17-029 Ordinance Pertaining to Disabled Parking Zones and Amending the Code of Ordinances of the Village of Riverton was voided and will be noted as not used.
Superintendent Lyons presented the board with his report. (See attached report).
Trustee Patrick made a motion to approve the purchase of auto read meters at the cost of $30,000. Trustee Collins seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Collins, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.
Trustee Bartley made a motion to ratify the purchase of new poles at the cost of $8,200. Trustee Collins seconded. Trustee Patrick, Charles, Collins, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.
Chief Lawley presented the board with his report. (See attached report). He added that the Police Department got a fresh coat of paint and looks great, Homecoming went well with no problems, and he reminded residents to please lock their cars. There have been a few break ins on unlocked cars by some kids.
Office Manager Patterson stated that the audit is complete and she passed out a copy to all the board members.
Trustee Bartley made a motion to approve the audit. Trustee Patrick seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Collins, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.
Treasurer Fitch had nothing to report.
Trustee Landess, chairman of the Administration Committee, stated that there will be an Insurance Meeting on 10/19 at 7:00 pm at the Village Hall.
Trustee Mileham, chairman of the Public Safety Committee, had nothing to report.
Trustee Patrick, chairman of the Public Utility Committee, had nothing to report.
Trustee Charles, chairman of the Parks Committee, stated that the parking signs are up at the F.O.D. and they hope to get some striping done this week.
Trustee Collins, chairman of the Public Works Committee, stated that all of the public works projects are on target to get done.
Trustee Bartley, chairman of the Economic Development Committee, stated that the Veteran’s Day Ceremony will be on 11/5 at 1 and the Thanksgiving Celebration will be 11/11 at the High School. He added that the sealed bid sale ad will be put together for the next meeting.
Mayor Rader had nothing to report.
Trustee Bartley made a motion to go into closed session at 7:34. Trustee Landess seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Collins, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.
The board went back into open session at 7:51 with a motion from Trustee Bartley. Trustee Mileham seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Collins, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.
Mayor Rader stated that he accepts the resignation of Trustee Chris Collins effective 10/16/17.
Trustee Bartley made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:54. Trustee Landess seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Collins, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.
